RRHA Addresses Lease Enforcement Cases Due to Non-Payment of Rent
Press Conference –  Friday, April 19, 2024 @10 a.m.

WHO: Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) CEO Steven Nesmith will lay out the facts regarding RRHA’s recent eviction prevention and lease enforcement actions, due to non-payment of rent.

WHAT: RRHA’s current and future strategies for Eviction Prevention and Lease Enforcement related to cases of non-payment of rent by residents, particularly where there are large balances owed, and where they have defaulted on their repayment agreements.

WHY: Approximately sixty percent of residents living in RRHA’s public housing communities have rent arrearages. In our operation as a landlord overseeing and maintaining income-based housing, RRHA’s regulator, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development calls for the eviction prevention and enforcement of the lease agreement entered into by RRHA and the signing resident. Rent provides operating dollars for the Agency to continue to exist and provide the services it gives.

WHEN: Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10 a.m.

WHERE: RRHA Administrative Offices, 600 East Broad Street, 5th Floor, Richmond VA 23219
