12:15 p.m. – Media Q & A following Roundtable Discussion
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. President’s Biden’s United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) senior officials join the leadership of the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) for a roundtable discussion about the first major redevelopment of public housing in a decade in the city of Richmond, RRHA’s one of-its-kind comprehensive program for public housing residents, and other major topics impacting public housing residents. The discussion takes place in the Community Room of the Armstrong Renaissance community at 1665 North 31st Street, Richmond VA 23221.
Joining the discussion will be current and former public housing residents, representatives from Richmond City Council, representatives from US Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan’s Office and US Senator Mark Warner’s Office and others.
Over the past three years, the Biden Administration has made historic investments and policy advancements related to affordable housing development, tenants’ rights, and community resources. HUD Cares reflects on major accomplishments of the Biden Administration and their impact on vibrant local communities like Richmond. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) Richard J. Monocchio and Dr. Ruth Jones Nichols, Senior Advisor for Strategic Engagement for the Office of the Secretary, will join Richmond residents, providers, and other local stakeholders for a discussion about the importance of addressing housing challenges head on and supporting residents by providing opportunities and protecting their rights.
