From an old school to senior homes
Highland Park Senior Apartments, 1221 East Brookland Park Blvd.
The first of three phases for the Fay Towers relocation, Highland Park Senior Apartments, opened in 2016 with 77 units in a renovated public school building. The building was constructed in 1909 and served as Highland Park Public School. In the early 1990s, the high school was converted into a three-story senior apartment building. Renamed Brookland Park Plaza, the building functioned as a senior living community for many years before being sold in 2006.
Highland Park is the first piece of RRHA’s plan to re-house the Fay Towers tenants, as well as a broader neighborhood development effort to revitalize the Highland Park commercial corridor and connect senior residents to available—but often untapped—local resources.
