RICHMOND, VA—The Resident Services division of the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) in partnership with regional housing and national organizations are making several scholarship opportunities available for 2023 graduating seniors living in RRHA Big Six public housing communities and voucher communities.
“RRHA wants to ensure that we offer every opportunity for our students to be successful. We understand all too well the challenges faced by low-income students when it comes to higher education. Students from public housing and voucher communities may not have personal or professional mentors to guide them through the challenges of higher education. They are also less likely to have family support for navigating applications for funding resources to go toward tuition. RRHA seeks to fill in that gap by connecting students with scholarships they may be eligible for,” said RRHA CEO Steven Nesmith.
“Most of our students living in public housing and voucher communities will be the first in their families to go to college,” said Ralph W. Stuckey Vice President of Resident Services. “Scholarships can provide the resources that parents or guardians may not have as well as the opportunity to make a college education affordable.”
Some application terms have already begun. Early application is strongly encouraged.
