October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Zero-Tolerance

RRHA is committed to maintaining a living environment for our public housing residents that free from discrimination and harassment for all applicants, residents, and voucher holders. We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to this subject.

RRHA also fully complies with the protections mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regarding resident reporting of discrimination and harassment by agency staff, and these protections are formally reflected in RRHA’s agency policies and procedures.

Report Claims

Public housing residents and voucher holders are encouraged to report concerns about discrimination and harassment by RRHA staff or contractors directly to RRHA management. Depending on the nature of the claim, a report may be addressed under one or more of the following provisions below:

  • Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) — Where a claim involves domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking
  • Fair Housing Act — Applies where the conduct constitutes discriminatory harassment based on a protected class, including sex

RRHA provides housing accommodations when claims are made, and emergency transfers are executed for households related to domestic violence.
