RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (January 10, 2024) — On Monday, January 22, 2024, Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) will open five (5) project-based voucher (PBV) waitlists of various bedroom sizes. A project-based voucher (PBV) is a housing choice voucher where the subsidy stays with the unit, not the individual voucher holder. The pre-application period for the PBV waitlists will open Monday, January 22, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. and close on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
The five (5) PBV waitlists that will open Monday, January 22nd total 38 units and are in the following communities:
- Lambert Landing I – Chesterfield, VA: Two (2) and Three (3) bedroom units.
- Lambert Landing II – Chesterfield, VA: Two (2) and Three (3) bedroom units.
- Brady Square III – Richmond, VA: One (1) , Two (2) and Three (3) bedroom units
- Brookland Park Apartments – Richmond VA: One (1) , Two (2) and Three (3) bedroom units
“While RRHA recognizes the total number of units may not be sufficient, it will be advantageous for individuals to move from the waitlist and into affordable housing. Our goal continues to focus on minimizing the impact of the current affordable housing crisis by reopening the waitlists and reducing the wait time to less than six months,” explains RRHA Chief Executive Officer, Steven Nesmith.
To apply for these waitlists , visit rrha.com, click the “Applicant Portal” at the top of the page. Log in or click “Click here to register” in the box at the bottom of the page. Enter your registration code or complete the personal details section to be assigned a registration code if you do not have one. Applicants who have challenges applying or logging in or who may not be technologically savvy and in need of online assistance, should call the RRHA Customer Call Center at (804) 780-4200.
Paper applications are no longer distributed or accepted by mail, fax, or in person. “Our entire application process is now online,” said Fatimah Smothers-Hargrove, Vice President of the Housing Choice Voucher and Tenant Selection Office.
